INFORMATION YOU SHOULD BE AWARE OF BEFORE PURCHASING:

One of my favorite pastimes as a child was sewing on perforated nursery rhyme cards using a shoe string. Embroidery on paper is a "grown-up" version of the same concept...an enjoyable pastime re-visited. My particular method was developed because of limited resources and I have two die cutting machines and very little money...so one thing lead to another...and this method evolved. Now I want to share this method with you.

Using my cut files and a die cutting machine, the pattern is cut out on cardstock. The cut leaves a trail of "dimples" that must be fine tuned by hand pricking with a Pergamano pricking/piercing tool. This trail of dimples is the pattern you will need to do the hand embroidery over.

No supplies are included with the instructions/cut file/files. You must locate and purchase supplies separately. There is a list of tools and supplies in the Beginner's Embroidery Packet instruction manual. The manual also includes useful tips, tricks and instructions.

If you have one of the Cricut die cutting machines, you will need Sure Cuts A Lot (SCAL) in order to be able to use these cut files. SCAL is a software program that allows you to cut .SVG files with your Cricut die cutting machine. It is made and distributed by Craftedge. Click HERE to go directly to the Craftedge web page where SCAL may be purchased.

Instructions will come in a PDF format so you will also need Adobe Reader in order to open these. Adobe Reader is a free download from the internet. Click HERE to go directly to the Adobe web site to download. On the Adobe web page, on the right side of the screen, under "Readers and Players", you will need to click on "Get Adobe Reader".

Files are currently being offered in .SVG and .SCUT cut file formats. The .SCUT file format is for Cricut users. If you purchase the .SVG file format, you will also need to have the Inkscape software as well. Inkscape is a free download from the internet. Click HERE to access the Inkscape web site. In the upper right hand corner of the screen on the Inkscape web site you'll see a green arrow and "Download Now". Left mouse click the green arrow. You'll need to wait a little bit while the software is being readied for download. You'll then get a pop-up window. Click "Save File". It'll take a few minutes to download to your computer.

Whether you are new to embroidery on paper or an old hat at doing it, my method in the beginning is very different from what others offer. If money restraints limit you from being able to purchase the full beginner package, I can't express enough the need for you to at least purchase the Partial Manual and one cut file when you are first starting out. I have worked very hard to make the manual as clear and concise as I can and it is the best tutorial I can offer. It has many tips, tricks, and instructions to help you along the way.

It would be great if my time constraints would allow me to tutor each and every one of you, but it isn’t. Purchasing a cut file, and not purchasing the Partial Manual, does not entitle you to the resource of my time. If you email me with questions and the issue has already been covered in the manual, I will more than likely ask if you have purchased the Partial Manual. BDy-Jme09 Dirt Bike Popup Card



Another masculine themed card. The popup has two layers: the main layer with the dirt bike and rider, and then a second one behind it with a silhouette of an eagle, mountains, pine tree, lake, etc. The tires on the bike are embroidered as well as a x-stitch design on the top and bottom edges of the card insert. I did a lace` embellishment for the front face of the card. It is included in the cut file package. I have included an extra cut file in this package to make the design package more versatile for other occasions. It is a very simple version with the popup words "happy" and "birthday" left out. You will find it listed as "VERSION 2" in the design package.

The design package comes with the following:
  • Two cut files for the popup inserts: the dirt bike/rider and the mountain scene.
  • A cut file for the blank popup insert with only the cutouts for use with the paper pricking template in the PDF manual.
  • A cut file for the lace` topper for the front of the card.
  • An extra cut file for a very simple version of the card.

BDy RAD08 Lighthouse Popup Birthday Card


Remember this? I made this card for my hubby last fall for his birthday. I have had requests for the cut file and now it is done. I've even added another version...one with embroidery. I re-designed the lighthouse and changed the lettering a little but all in all it is the same. I did, however, leave out the slot at the top for inserting a gift card.

Eas09 Tri-Fold Card Topper


Wait until you have finished the hand embroidery before folding the topper. On the finished Easter card and the two Mother's Day cards (on JFS sharing site), after finishing the hand embroidery, I glued the first folded section to the second folded section. This covers the back of the stitching on the first fold. You will need to keep your thread ends close in to the embroidery design so when you glue these sections together no thread will show on the inside of the card. I then cut a mat every so slightly larger than the finished topper and glued this to the back to make the completed card.

The package includes the following:
  • Cut file for the topper.
  • Cut file for the blank topper.
  • PDF file of specifics and information including the stitching chart and pricking template.
Completed topper measures approximately 5.25" x 5.25".

BEGINNER'S PACKET/INSTRUCTIONS MANUAL AND CUT FILES


The Beginner's Embroidery Packet includes the following:

* Eight cut files: (4) cut files, one for each topper, for cutting the toppers with the pricking design and the cutouts; (4) cut files, one for each topper, for cutting blank toppers with only the cutouts to be used with the paper pricking templates in the PDF Complete Manual.

* A Complete Manual in a PDF format that includes tips, tricks, instructions, stitching charts and pricking templates.
